This giant mound of a poke bowl came from King’s Village Farmer’s Market in Waikiki right behind the Hyatt. It was a generous amount of tuna and definitely worth it. In fact, there was more tuna than rice which was underneath there somewhere. If you’re ever in the area on a Monday or Friday, check it out and find the Poke Man, then get some fresh fruit for dessert.

This is long overdue but we went to Las Vegas a few months back and decided to try out Roy’s. It’s the number one rated restaurant in Vegas on Trip Advisor and Trip Advisor rarely fails us! Roy’s is about 2 miles from the strip so we cabbed it there and back.

For an appetizer we shared the Ahi Poke. Delicious. For the main course, I had the Hawaii Kai Style Beef Short Ribs and my Jenn had Roy’s Trio - Hibachi Salmon, Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi and Misoyako Butterfish. First, the short ribs were tender and boneless! It was a large portion, more than I expected so it really filled me up. The fish looked delicious, but the best was the Misoyako Butterfish. It just melts in your mouth. I think if I returned I would get the Butterfish all by itself, which they have available as well. For dessert, we had a chocolate souffle (basically a lava cake) which was soft and freshly baked. There is so much to try on the menu, I would definitely go back and try some different things.

As impressive as the food was, their service was top notch. From the moment we arrived, they treat you with class. The sous chef even came out to ensure that everything went well with our meal. Overall, it’s worth the trip from the strip, the food is excellent but the service is even better.

Sushiholic’s Volcano Roll - Asparagus, Spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado and cucumber roll all DEEP FRIED… and a mountain of spicy tuna sashimi inside. Just like a volcano. Makes sense AND it’s delicious.
